What is an i693 USCIS Medical Exam and Immigration Physical?

Individuals applying for a green card (lawful permanent residence) must undergo a USCIS medical exam and complete the i693 form by a licensed medical professional authorized by USCIS. The purpose of this i693 USCIS medical exam is to check green card applicants for pre-existing conditions that would preclude their applications from being approved.
During the USCIS medical exam, the physician will check for communicable diseases through the i693 examination and provide any required vaccinations for the i693 form completion.

Unsure of vaccination requirements?

What should I bring to my i693 USCIS Medical Exam?

You should come to your USCIS medical exam appointment with a government issued ID, such as a driving license or passport, and a copy of your immunization records for the i693 form processing.

How long does it take to get the i693 paperwork after my USCIS medical exam?

If all the i693 test results come back normal from your USCIS medical exam, you can typically expect a call within 1-2 weeks to let you know that the i693 paperwork is ready to collect.

What is an FAA Physical and who needs one?

In order to determine that you are fit to pilot an aircraft the Federal Aviation Administration requires that pilots take a FAA physical. This physical will inspect your physical and mental health and look at your medical history.
FAA physicals must be conducted by an authorized Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). Dr Efi Kessous is an authorized AME and has a wealth of experience performing these physicals.
There are three classes of FAA physicals: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Generally 1st class is for airline transport pilots. 2nd class is for commercial pilots and 3rd class is for student and recreational pilots.

How should I prepare for my FAA physical?

To ensure that your physical goes smoothly, you’ll want to register an account on the FAA’s MedXPress system and complete the appropriate electronic form. During the physical, you can expect to take a hearing test, a vision test, and an echocardiogram (for a first class physical over a certain age). You will also be asked to provide a urine sample.
We also recommend that you review the FAA’s full list of minimum requirements as well as the AMAS Medication Database if you are currently taking any medication.

How often does my FAA physical need to be repeated?

Depending on your age and the type of medical certificate that you have, you will need to repeat the FAA physical anywhere from every 6 months to every 60 months. Find the expiration period for your certificate.
